About the Company
Albert Lea's original Lakeside Café opened in 1947 at the corner of Wilson Street and Bridge Avenue, where we are today. Seating just 25 people, Thomas and Julia Sonksen inspired a loyal and devoted following with their home cooked meals and home baked pies and pastries. Sold in 1974 to Clifford and Izola Haried and in 1983 to Barb Swenson the Lakeside Café served generations of Albert Lea residents until its closing in 1988.

Our ice cream heritage comes from the Albert Lea Cooperative Creamery and its Dairy Bar, located just to our north at the corner of Marshall Street and Bridge Avenue. The Dairy Bar tempted neighborhood and area families from 1940 to 1967 with a tasty variety of ice cream treats.

Reborn in 1999, the Lakeside Café & Creamery continues these two fine traditions of quality and value, satisfying today's desire for home cooked goodness, ice cream treats and gourmet coffee drinks. Conveniently located adjacent to Ben's Floral & Frame Designs, a unique dining and shopping experience awaits you. Please drop in soon, or call ahead for pick up or delivery of your favorite treats!

Lakeside Café & Creamery is happy to help you get together your next get-together. We request 24-hour notice on all large orders. However, we will do our best to accommodate your last minute needs.
Delivery

Selecting individual boxes or platters depends on how many people you are serving & how involved you want to be in the ordering process. Order individual boxes when everyone wants to choose their sandwich. We'll even put their name on the box! Order a platter and offer a little variety to everyone's lunch.

We are centrally located in Albert Lea; and, only four blocks from the Albert Lea Medical Center-Mayo Health Systems (formerly called Naeve Hospital). Our beautifully landscaped building is on picturesque Fountain Lake and across from New Denmark Park. Our flower cooler is filled with a wide selection of fresh flowers and unique arrangements designed with flowers that arrive daily. Healthy green and blooming plants bask in our sun-filled solarium.

Deliveries are made constantly throughout the day, and may include fun “extras” like balloons, plush animals, & handmade truffles.

Lakeside Café & Creamery has a delicious menu featuring deli-style sandwiches (we bake our own bread), choice of three different soups daily and chili, fresh-baked goodies, hand-dipped ice cream, and gourmet coffee drinks. Delivery of boxed lunches, sandwich platters, and dessert platters is available as part of a floral order or as a separate treat.

A local delivery fee of $5.99 will be added to each order, for each address. (For deliveries outside our local delivery area, this fee may vary.)

U.S. orders must be received before 12:00 p.m. in the recipient's time zone to help assure same-day delivery. Orders received after that time will be delivered the following day.

We will do our best to accommodate deliveries at a specific time of day, but we cannot guarantee it.

We are unable to make deliveries on Sundays, except for funeral visitations. All other orders requesting delivery on this day will be delivered the following business day.

Deliveries of orders to rural route addresses or cemeteries cannot be guaranteed. We will be happy to accept your international orders if you call our shop directly. We are unable to accept international orders over the internet.
